This is my 1984 GTE hatch. I rebuilt the engine with low comp lotus pistons and an inlet manifold to hold a garrett T3 turbo under the injection plenum. The car also ran a NOS nitrous oxide fogger kit  and extra injectors which was good if you liked going sideways or in a circle. I used a MicroDynamics turbo management system, which was a nightmare to set up. Due to the intercooler and large radiator in the front we had to mount the oil cooler under a bonnet vent on the RHS of the picture with two 100mm fans drawing the air through it. The CIH is a strong engine, but you can burn a lot of money to get horses. This car was builtmore than 12 years ago and looked pretty good then. The light covers disappeared when the lights switched on and the twin wipers were from a 3 serie BMW.

The kit fitted is a Mantzel ‘Elegance’ kit with a home made boot spoiler. The locks are gone and you can just see the little buton for popping the doors at the bottom of the A pillar. Not to everyones tastes, but the interior was immaculate and the car was avery smooth drive. I sold the car around ‘94 and it appeared occasionally up to a couple of years ago, though it had a standard engine again.
